Vitor - Brazil
Gimauro Is affectionately known in Ireland by his professional artistic name of Vitor. At the age of 16 Vitor commenced his professional training in Brazil incorporating Ballet, Contemporary andLatin Ballroom dancing. At 18 years of age Vitor became Artistic Director and Teacher of Gafieira Etc e Tal Dance Academy in Recife, Brazil. As Artistic Director and dancer Gimauro participated in numerous shows, demonstrating various dances such as Swing, Tango, Salsa and Ballroom Dance. In 200 he won the prestigious award of Best Innovative Young Dancer of the Year from Recife's Biggest dance Event - NAtional Championship of Latin Dancing. Shortly after that, in 2001, Gimauro came to Ireland in order to further his dance training and became a member of The Association of Professional Dancers in Ireland. He is currently undertaking an MA in Dance Performance (Contemporary) at the University of Limerick, supported by the Arts Council of Ireland. As part of his programme he has also been learning Traditional Irish Dancing and together with Anna is very excited to organize this Fusion of Irish & Latin Dance at their First Dublin International Salsa Congress.
Anna - Ukraine/Cuba
Anna born in Ukraine, but half Cuban, was raised in Cuba since she was 3 years old. While living in Galway, Anna decided to join a Tango Class where Vitor was a guest teacher on his 3rd week in Ireland. It was a hit from the start and an inseparable union, leading to their marriage 2 years later. Although Anna has already qualified as a barrister in Ireland, the Cuban blood is taking over at the moment with immensely enjoying teaching people how to dance and fell the Cuban rhythms including Salsa and Chachacha.
